Contact of Singaporean SARS patient tests negative

  SINGAPORE, Sept. 14 (Xinhuanet) - A contact of the 27-year-old Singaporean SARS patient has tested negative for the disease in China, Singapore's Health Ministry said here on Sunday.

  The female contact, who is on holiday in China, was working at an Environmental Health Institute laboratory when the patient was there, according to the Health Ministry.

  The ministry said that it informed the Chinese health authorityafter contact tracing began and asked the Chinese counterpart to arrange for tests on her.

  When giving an update on the SARS patient on Sunday, the ministry also said that he is still warded at the new CommunicableDisease Centre and has not had a fever for seven days.

  The ministry said earlier that the patient was doing well and might be discharged this week. Enditem
