Saudi Arabia condemns Israel's decision to expel Arafat

  KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Saudi Arabia on Friday condemned Israeli government's decision to expel Palestinian leaderYasser Arafat, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

  The decision taken by the Israeli government will lead to "totalcollapse of the peace process, an official source was quoted by thenews agency as saying.

  "It is also a dangerous Israeli escalation in the region and a violation of the international law and resolutions of internationallegitimacy," the source added.

  The source also urged the international community to "exert urgent and effective efforts to force Israel to reverse this mistaken decision to prevent its implementation from leading to thedestruction of international efforts to establish a just and comprehensive peace in the region."

  Israel's security cabinet on Thursday evening agreed in principle to expel Arafat and has ask Israel Defense Forces to drawup a plan for Arafat's exile.

  Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon convened a security cabinet meeting after returning from a cut-short India visit to discuss a response to Tuesday's twin suicide bombings that killed 15 Israelis. Enditem
