JERUSALEM, Sept. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli police on Friday stormed the Temple Mount compound in old city of Jerusalem to disperse Muslim worshippers who threw stones at Jews praying at the Wailing Wall located just below the compound.

A police spokesman said that hundreds of Arab youths, who were in the area for Friday prayers, threw stones down into the area of the Jewish holy site.

Israel Radio reported the police fired tear gas and stun grenades at the stone-throwers and there was no immediate reports on injuries.

The radio said that the riot might be part of reactions against Israel's decision to remove Yasser Arafat from his Ramallah compound. Enditem
