BAGHDAD, Sept. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- The US forces were looking for former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein in order to prove his connection with terrorism, US commander in Iraq Ricardo Sanchez said on Thursday.

   Replying to a question about the relation between Saddam andterror groups, the general said "It is very possible Saddam is still alive."

   "We are looking for those relationships, we're looking for any terrorist elements that's operating here in this country, just asfar as we are looking for Saddam," he elaborated.

   Supporting terror groups such as al-Qaida was one of theaccusations the United States held on Saddam as a pretext for the war on Iraq, which resulted in the ouster of Saddam's regime in early April.

   However US officials so far failed to give any concrete evidence to prove the claim.  Enditem
