GAZA, Sept. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior Palestinian leader condemned Saturday a failed Israeli assassination attempt on Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, founder and spiritual leader of Islamic resistance movementHamas.

　　"The Israeli government is using internal trouble of the Palestinians to escalate its military aggression against the Palestinians, continue assassinations and incursions in the Palestinian territories," said Saeb Erekat, chief Palestinian negotiator and a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council.

　　"It is necessary for the international community to interfere asimmediatly as possible to end this furious Israeli military aggression against our people and their leaders and the current deterioration," he noted. Enditem
