GAZA, Sept. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- A top aide to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat on
Saturday denied reports that Arafat had made his decision on the resignation of
Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh told reporters in the West Bank town of Ramallah that
Arafat had not yet decided on whether to accept or reject Abbas' resignation,
and there would be a series of meetings held by different Palestinian official
institutions.
Arafat would chair on Saturday evening a meeting of the Palestine
Liberation Organization (PLO) executive committee as wellas the central council
of Fatah movement at his office in Ramallah,he said.
Some Palestinian members of parliament would also meet with Arafat to study
the resignation request that Abbas had presented toArafat, Abu Rudeineh said,
adding that Abbas would attend all the meetings.
The Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) ended a closed-door session in
Ramallah on Saturday, in which Abbas explained the reasons for his resignation.
