WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Affairs James Kelly will lead the US delegation to the six-way talks scheduled for Aug. 27-29 in Beijing, the State Department announced on Thursday.

"Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Affairs James Kelly will lead the US delegation," spokesman Tom Casey told reporters.

Kelly will head an interagency group at the talks, which will also be attended by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), China, Russia, South Korea and Japan, Casey said.

The talks will focus on how to settle the DPRK nuclear issue which flared up last October following a visit to Pyongyang by a US delegation also headed by Kelly.

As the top East Asia policymaker of the State Department, Kelly headed a US delegation to the three-party talks in Beijing this April, which involves the United States, the DPRK and China. Enditem
