SINGAPORE, July 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Singapore's TV channel on the Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome (SARS) stopped transmission from Thursday due to all
SARS-hit countries have been taken off the warning list of the World Health
Organization (WHO).
The cable provider Starhub said that there is no longer a need for a
dedicated channel on SARS because the SARS threat and publicinterest in the
disease were now greatly diminished.
Since the launching of the channel on May 21, about a million viewers have
reportedly tuned in the channel, which was jointly launched by Starhub, Media
Corp and Singapore Press Holdings.
A total of 32 people died of the 206 SARS cases recorded in theisland state
of some 4 million population.
Singapore has taken tougher and effective measures to halt the spread of
the SARS virus since the first SARS case was reported inthe country in early
March.
Singapore was removed from the WHO's warning list on
