Chinese archers hope for full entry into Athens Olympics

””””BEIJING, July 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Hoping for a full entry into the Athens Olympic Games, the Chinese archers left for New York for the world archery championships starting from July 15.

””””Departing here on Monday were eight players, including Lin Sang,ace archer of the 1994 Asian Games women's champion team, who alsofinished fourth in the 1999 world championships.

””””Other members are veteran Huang Zhongsheng, Xue Haifeng, Chen Hongyuan, Jiang Lin, Zhang Juanjuan, Guo Dan and Xu Linlin.

””””Zhang Juanjuan was a member of the women winners in the last world 
championship while Xu Linlin finished third in the Asian championships.

””””Under the rule of the International Archery Federation, top eight teams in both men's and women's events will directly qualifyfor the Athens Olympic, and three individuals of each of the top eight teams will also compete in Athens, together with 22 other best individual scorers, with the last 30 individual tickets to becompeted in the continental tournaments.

””””Chinese manager Meng Fan'ai said that the Chinese women, despite lagging behind archrivals South Korea, are still hopeful for a top three finish, while their men compatriots ranked 10th to 12th in the world.
