BEIJING, July 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Beijing plans to stage a series of activities across the city on July 13 to mark the second anniversary of its Olympic bid triumph, organizers said here on Monday.

　　Jiang Xiaoyu, vice president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG), told a press conference Monday that these celebrations will be a showcase for the "healthy" and "prosperous" city after the SARS epidemic.

　　This will be the first mass activity in Beijing after the World Health Organization (WHO) lifted its travel advisory last month.

　　On the day of July 13, about ten thousand people will take partin a run, and a variety of cultural and recreational shows are tobe held in most of the city's parks. Meanwhile, more than 30 gymnasia and stadia will be open to the public at half price.

　　A day before the second anniversary, BOCOG will also sponsor a show of Olympic posters designed by college students.

　　The Chinese capital city won the right to host the 2008 Olympics on July 13, 2001 in Moscow, beating the other four candidate cities including Paris, Toronto, Osaka and Istanbul. Enditem
