¡¡¡¡BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Wei Di, director of Water Events 
Administration Center of State General Sports Administration, expressed his confidence in China's win of first-ever Olympic canoeing gold in Athens here on Sunday during the National Canoeing Championships. 

¡¡¡¡"China once snatched a gold in World Canoeing Championships butthat 
discipline is not included in Olympics and the best Olympic place China lifted is the fourth. All this goes to show there is an urgent call for a breakthrough in the Games." Wei Di said. 

¡¡¡¡Wei Di added, "As part of 119 Project (the total number of goldmedals of swimming, water events and track and field in the Games are 119), canoeing will play a role in at least securing a medal and even a gold in Athens." 

¡¡¡¡Wei Di mentioned that women's K2, women's K4 and men's C1 will be the 
favorites to make that come off. 

¡¡¡¡The Championships, concurrently National Youth Canoeing Championships and Canoeing Qualifiers for the 5th City's Games, took place in Yanqing, a county under Beijing, running from July 20 to 27. Enditem
