France condemns attack against Moscow rock festival

   PARIS, July 5 (Xinhuanet) -- France on Saturday strongly condemnedthe fatal blasts near a popular rock festival in northwestern Moscow that killed at least 16 and seriously injuring many others.

  "France most firmly condemns the odious attack," said French foreign spokeswoman Cecile Pozzo di Borg in a statement made public in Moscow and Paris.

  Pozzo di Borg is now accompanying French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin during his visit to Russia.

  "France presents her condolence to families of the victims and express solidarity to the Russian authorities in this test," said the statement.

  "This attack makes more necessary than ever the mobilization of the international community in the fight against terrorism in all forms," it said.

  The Russian authorities announced that Chechen rebels are suspected of conducting the attacks.

  Two female suicide bombers killed themselves on the spot. Theyhad tried to get into the Tushino airfield, the concert site, at two separate points but were stopped by guards. They then blew themselves up. Enditem
