¡¡¡¡BEIJING, March 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said Monday China calls for an early cessation of the war in Iraq.

¡¡¡¡He made the remark in his talks with visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali at Beijing.

¡¡¡¡He said China calls for the return to the correct path of political solution within the framework of the United Nations so as to reduce the humanitarian catastrophe suffering by the Iraqi people and safeguard the sovereignty and territory integrity of Iraq.

¡¡¡¡He said China, deeply concerned about the current situation in Iraq, has maintained a consistent and clear stance on the issue. It has made unremitting efforts to solve the issue through political means.

¡¡¡¡Jamali said he agreed with China's stance on the current international situation and on the Iraq issue, and expressed his hope that coordination and cooperation with China will be enhanced.Enditem
