NPC deputies of minority ethnic groups constitute Half of Yunnan Delegation

   BEIJING, March 2 (Xinhuanet) ¨C More than half of the deputies of the Yunnan provincial delegation to the National People¡¯s Congress, China¡¯s legislature, are from 22 minority ethnic groups.

   Yu Shuaijiao, a deputy from the Bulang ethnic group, said, ¡°We deputies of minority ethnic groups represent Tibetans, Lagu, Dai, Yao, Hui, Naxi, Miao, Pumi, Wa, Dulong and other groups.¡±

   Yunnan Province in southwest China has 26 minority ethnic groups, more than any other province-level areas in the country.

   Moreover, the Yunnan provincial delegation has 18 female deputies from grass-roots units, or nearly 20 percent of the total. Enditem
