¡¡¡¡ China has imposed anti-dumping
duties of up to 48 percent on imports of polyester staple fibre from South Korea
to protect local industry. The tariffs, ranging from two to 48 percent, took
effect on February 3 and will be in place for five years, Ministry of Foreign
Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) announced.
¡¡¡¡A MOFTEC
investigation found that dumping did take place, and the State Economic and
Trade Commission concluded that the imports did cause substantial damage to the
domestic industry. The ministries concluded there was a direct causal link
between the dumping and the damage.
¡¡¡¡MOFTEC started anti-dumping probes
into polyester staple fibre, used to make fabrics and textiles, in August 2001
and launched temporary anti-dumping measures in October 2002.
¡¡¡¡The
above-said product is under China Custom Import Tariff No. 55032000 and
55062000. The following are the names of companies from The Republic of Korea
and the anti-dumping duty rates for them respectively:
