Palestinian official announces another London conference

Xinhuanet 2003-02-05 22:43:43

GAZA, Feb. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Minister of Information Yasser Abed Rabbo announced Wednesday that another peace conference to discuss PNA reforms is to be held in London on Feb. 17.

””””Abed Rabbo told reporters that representatives of the International Quartet Committee of the United States, Russian, the European Union and the United Nations as well as Palestinian and Arab representatives would attend the London conference.

””””"We hope that the meeting this time would achieve tangible and positive results and to end the wave of creating excuses to preventany serious political process," he added.

””””Following a twin suicide bombing attack carried out in Tel Aviv in December, Israel had prevented a Palestinian delegation from reaching London to participate in a conference held there on Dec. 13-14.

””””The Palestinians participated in the conference and discussed the possibilities of renewing the peace process and PNA reforms viaa video conference system.

””””Abed Rabbo praised statements made by British Prime Minister Tony Blair, in which he said that the situation in the Palestinian territories "is more dangerous than the expected war against Iraq."

””””"These statements approve that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the major reason for the tension in the Middle East. We hope that Blair's words would turn into deeds," said Abed Rabbo. Enditem
