Indian PM's security breached for 2nd time in 48 hours

””””NEW DELHI, Jan. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- In a serious breach of Prime Minister's security in less than 48 hours, a motorcyclist almost barged into his motorcade Thursday morning near India Gate raisingthe hackles of the elite security guards around him.

””””The breach occurred when Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajapyee was returning early morning after paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

””””The motorcyclist, A Tyagi, was apprehended immediately and whisked to Nizamuddin Police station.

””””During questioning he claimed that a policeman on security dutyhad allowed him to go after the motorcade of President A P J AbdulKalam, also returning from Rajghat, had passed by.

””””However, he said little did he know that he was barging into the escort vehicle of the Prime Minister because of the dense fog that had engulfed the national capital this morning.

””””Tyagi works as a manager of Hero Honda and was going to his office located at Vasant Vihar in South West Delhi.

””””This is the second incident this week and third within last 10 days.

””””On Tuesday night, a Maruti Car tried to overtake the Prime Minister's convoy at Rao Tula Marg in South West Delhi during which the elite Special Protection Group commandos fired six rounds at the vehicle. Two businessmen of Gurgaon in Haryana were arrested in this connection.

””””On Jan. 20, a Maruti Van breached the security when it almost rammed into the escort vehicle of the Prime Minister in a similar fashion near Vasant Vihar. Enditem

”””” Accused in Indian PM's security breach remanded to custody for 14 days

   ””NEW DELHI, Jan. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The two accused, who allegedly breached Indian prime minister's security by entering his cavalcade Tuesday night, were Thursday remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.

””””Metropolitan Magistrate Chandra Shekhar remanded accused Ashok Kumar and Dharen Singh to judicial custody till Feb. 13.

””””The accused moved a bail application contending that all the sections under which they were booked were bailable and that they had no knowledge of any "order" sanitizing the prime minister's route.

””””However, the arguments could not be completed Thursday as the prosecution prayed for more time to produce that "order" passed bythe public authorities.

””””Allowing the plea, the court fixed Friday for hearing the bail application. Enditem
