ˇˇˇˇGAZA, Jan. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli Border Police and army troops backed by
tanks and helicopters raided the refugee camp of Al Maghazi in central Gaza
Strip at predawn on Tuesday, killing four Palestinian militants.
ˇˇˇˇWitnesses said that the Israeli soldiers entered the refugee camp under the
protection of tanks and helicopters, and began to open fire at the residential
area and at anything moving in the darkness.
ˇˇˇˇIsraeli Radio reported that the Israeli army forces entered the camp in
search for Palestinian militants, wanted to the Israeli security forces.
ˇˇˇˇPalestinian militants in the camp fired on the Israeli soldiers with
anti-tank missiles and small arms, and threw fragmentation grenades at them,
said the radio, adding that undercover troops then stormed the gunmen's
position, killing four.
ˇˇˇˇA Palestinian public security spokesman said that the Israeli army force

armored personnel carriers.
ˇˇˇˇWitnesses confirmed that dozens of gunmen then heeded calls issued by
mosque loudspeakers to defend the camp on Gaza's border with Israel.
ˇˇˇˇMeanwhile, Palestinians said that the Israeli soldiers arrested 19
Palestinians in the several areas of the West Bank suspected of links to armed
attacks, including 10 members of Hamas seized west of Nablus.
