Iranian president hopes no war against Iraq

”” ””TEHRAN, Dec. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Iranian President Mohammad Khatami expressed hope on Wednesday that no military action would be taken against Iraq by the United States.

””””Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, Khatami noted that Iran has repeatedly announced its opposition to the US attack on Iraq while Washington is seeking pretexts to launch the attack.

””””He stressed that Iraq is expected to abide by UN Security Council resolutions to avoid the eruption of such a catastrophe.

””””Referring to the US intention to change the Iraqi regime, Khatami said "we are not pleased with the Iraqi regime as well. It has done injustice against our nation, but it (war) is not the way to deal with the issue."
