and coordination with Arab countries and the rest international community to
promote the Mideast peace process, visiting Chinese Mideast envoy Wang Shijie
said here Monday.
””””Wang made the remarks during a meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II,
which focused on the latest developments in the regionand bilateral ties.
””””During the meeting, Wang stressed that China has been persistentin its
support for the just cause of Arab countries and in its efforts to promote the
Mideast peace process and stability and development in the region, members of
Wang's delegation told Xinhua.
””””Wang added that his appointment as the Mideast peace envoy highlighted the
importance the Chinese government attached to Mideast affairs and its
determination to forge ahead with its efforts to push forward the Mideast peace
process.
””””Wang, a veteran Chinese diplomat, said China valued the special role of
Jordan as a major peace broker in the Israeli-Palestinian conflicts.
””””China is keen to strengthen its cooperation and coordination with Jordan
and other Arab countries to work for an early and just solution to the Mideast
conflicts, Wang said.
””””Abdullah said Jordan welcomed China's decision to send a specialenvoy to
the region and appreciated China's Mideast policy.
””””The kingdom is willing to further develop friendly and cooperative ties
with Beijing, the king stressed.
””””Earlier in the day, the Chinese envoy met with Jordanian ForeignMinister
Marwan Moasher and briefed him on China's Mideast policy, which stands for a
just, durable and comprehensive peace in the region on the basis of relevant UN
resolutions and the land-for-peace principle.
””””Wang arrived in Amman on the fourth leg of his Mideast
tour, which has already taken him to Egypt, Lebanon and Syria. He is
alsoexpected to visit Israel and Palestinian territories.
