HK leader appreciates his athletes' performance at Asian Games

ˇˇˇˇHONG KONG, Oct. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Hong Kong leader appreciated HK athletes on Thursday for their outstanding performance at latest Asian Games in Busan, South Korea.

ˇˇˇˇThe Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa said at the celebration reception for the Hong Kong Delegation to the Asian Games: "Our delegates have brought home 21 medals - four gold, sixsilver and 11 bronze, setting a new record of scores by Hong Kong in the Asian Games."

ˇˇˇˇ"The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government attaches great importance and gives much support to sports development. We are working on the long-term strategy for sports development in Hong Kong to boost our sports culture to new heights," said Tung.

ˇˇˇˇTimothy Fok, President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, presented the Asian Games mistral gold medal to Lee Lai Shan in his Olympic Council of Asia Vice President capacity.

ˇˇˇˇAs soon as retaining her title at Busan Asian Games in mistral windsurfing, Lee Lai Shan was rushed to Hong Kong on October 9 before the medal awarding ceremony due to endured acute pain whichwas caused by cholangitis diagnosed later in Hong Kong.
