Turkish doctors stage strike in protest of US war on Iraq

””””ANKARA, Oct. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Dozens of Turkish doctors staged a strike in Istanbul on Saturday in protest against a possible US military operation on Iraq, reported the Anatolian News Agency.

””””The demonstrators from the Istanbul Doctors Union shouted anti-US slogans and carried banners saying "war is harmful to health," and "we don't have doctors sent to war."

””””Speaking on behalf of the group, Gencay Gursoy, chairman of the union, defended the view that the United States ignored universal human rights, the international law and UN resolutions.
