ˇˇˇˇYANGON, Sept. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Myanmar government Thursday pledged to fully
support the search of the remains of US servicemen missing in World War II due
to air crash when flying missions over the country.

send officials next month to visit the US Army Central Identification Lab in
Hawaii to meet US forensic scientists who will lead field excavations to discuss
procedures for the joint search operation in mountainous, jungle terrain in
Northern Myanmar.
ˇˇˇˇThe framework for cooperation was agreed in Yangon on Sept. 14 between
Myanmar and a US delegation led by Jerry Jennings, deputy assistant secretary of
Defense for POW/ Missing Personnel Affairs.
ˇˇˇˇField excavations will take place in four sites in Myanmar's Kachin State
where a US C-47 cargo aircraft crashed, the statementsaid, adding that in early
2003, a US team will work with Myanmar counterparts for the search.
ˇˇˇˇIt is the first time for Myanmar to allow the US to carry out such searches
