Xinhuanet 2002-09-11 18:21:48

”””” GAZA, Sept. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- More than 25 Israeli tanks and armored vehicles pulled out of the northern Gaza villages of Beit Hanoon and Beit Lahya Wednesday after a predawn incursion, Palestinian sources said.

””””Izel Dein Al Qassam, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) claimed in a leaflet that it had attacked Israeli tanks entering Beit Hanoon, wounded two Israeli soldiers.

””””But the Israeli military has denied any loss of its tanks in the operations.

””””The Hamas leaflet said Palestinian militants planted a roadside bomb at the entrance to the village, adding that when the tank drove over the explosive device, it exploded and turned the tank over.

””””Palestinian militants exchanged fire with the incursive Israeli soldiers. No injuries were reported on the side of the militants.

””””Local residents said Israeli troops raided houses in the villageand arrested at least 20 villagers. Enditem””””
