¡¡¡¡ KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 11 (Xinhuanet)-- Embassy of the United State in Kuala Lumpur closed Wednesday due to a "credible and specific threat" to security while Malaysian authorities have taken tight security measures to protect the embassy.

¡¡¡¡"Because of a credible and specific threat to the security of the US embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the embassy will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 11 to review its security posture," said a statement issued by the embassy.

¡¡¡¡It urged US citizens in Malaysia to maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate step to reduce their vulnerability and maintain a low profile in recent days.

¡¡¡¡Fully-armed soldiers and policemen were called to provide extra security at the US embassy and a lane leading to the embassy has been sealed.

¡¡¡¡Several US embassies in Southeast Asia have reportedly closed Wednesday for security reasons.

¡¡¡¡Malaysia, a Muslim country, supports the US-led international struggle against terrorism but does not agree to the US military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq.
