¡¡¡¡HANOI, Sept. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Vietnam's garment and textile exports to the United States topped 420 million US dollars in the last 8 months, a nine-fold increase compared with the same period last year.

¡¡¡¡Total garment and textile exports reached 1.56 billion US dollars over the same period, a 14 percent year-on-year increase, according to a report of the Ministry of Trade on Thursday.

¡¡¡¡However, given that the US market is worth around 60 billion dollars, the ministry said that Vietnamese garment and textile exports to the country were still too modest.

¡¡¡¡It identified five difficulties that most Vietnamese garment makers still face, namely, the lack of modern equipment, reliance on sub-contracting deals, failure to meet international quality management and labor standards, lack of distribution and marketingstrategy, and the lack of a skilled workforce.
