””””BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- China appreciates the United States
government's decision to put the "East Turkistan Islamic Movement" (ETIM) on the
list of terrorist organizations, Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said here
Tuesday.
””””Kong said the U.S. had officially informed China about the relevant
decision and US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage announced the
decision Monday.
””””China and the United States shared extensive common interests in the field
of anti-terrorism, Kong said, adding that China was ready to make joint efforts,
enhance mutual consultations and deepen bilateral cooperation with the US side
in the fight againstterrorism.
””””For a long period of time, Kong noted, ETIM and other East Turkistan
organizations had joined other international terrorist forces in creating many
violent terrorist incidents inside and outside China, posing grave threats to
regional security and stability.
””””Facts have proven that the East Turkistan organizations are part of the
international terrorist forces and constitute a scourge of the international
community that all nations should join efforts to combat, the spokesman said.
