¡¡¡¡HANOI, Aug. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Flash floodings have left at least six people dead and another missing in Vietnam's northern mountainous provinces, state media said on Friday.

¡¡¡¡The floods have also submerged more than 4,000 houses, affecting lives of thousands of people in nine provinces, said media reports.

¡¡¡¡The flash floods were triggered by a downpour of more than 20 centimeters over the past three days in the northeastern provinces,said the National Hydrometeorology Center.

¡¡¡¡Rains had stopped by Friday morning but disaster relief teams were still helping evacuate local people from dangerous areas, said local officials in the flooded areas.

¡¡¡¡The mountainous provinces in Vietnam's far north and northwest are vulnerable to flash floods caused by torrential rains during the August-October period. Enditem
