HANOI, May 21
(Xinhuanet) -- Vietnam's National Election Council declared a 98.85 percent
turnout for the 11th National Assembly ( NA) Election on
Sunday. According to a press release of the National Election
Council, 49,211,275 of the registered 49,783,769 voters nationwide went to
the polls. Many cities and provinces recorded turnouts of
more than 99 percent. Central Da Nang city and southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau
province, led the country with a rate of 99.99 percent. Ho Chi Minh City
recorded 99.37 percent. The National Election Council said
rains and flash floods in some northern mountainous provinces caused
problems for voters in Nghe An, Vinh Phuc and Lao Cai. But despite the
hurdles, most voters in these areas managed to cast their
votes. Vote counting is going on in all constituencies, added
the Council. Vietnam started its 11th National Assembly
