HANOI, May 20
(Xinhuanet) -- Vietnam has charted a new course for cutting its telecom and
postal charges to gradually conform to regional services, according to a
report of Vietnam's official news agency VNA on Monday.
Within this month, the Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Corporation will
offer new rates of mobile phone and Internet charges, VNA quoted a senior
official from the Corporation as saying. "In July, its
international telecom charges will be cut by between 9 and 11 percent.
However, it has not yet decided how much mobile phone and Internet charges
are reduced and whether or not Internet charges are left floating," the
official noted. "The country's international telecom and mobile
phone charge rates are about 1.5-2 times higher than those of other
countries," the Vietnamese telecom official admitted. Under a
Vietnamese government's plan, more business entities will emerge in order to
provide more services to people and promote competition among domestic
companies in the sector. Enditem |
