KABUL, April 27
(Xinhuanet) -- Kabul International Airport was attacked late Friday night by
at least one rocket, which did not cause any damage or casualties, an
International Security Assistance Forces commander said on
Saturday. Group Captain Steve Avvott, who was in charge of the
ISAF airfield security in Kabul, told reporters that one rocket hit
the taxiway in front of the ISAF headquarters at the airport and broke up
without explosion. It was suspected that there were totally
three rockets but only one was found, said the commander, adding that no
damage or casualties were caused by the attack. He said the
rocket type was not known yet and the ISAF was searching for the launch site
of the rockets, which could be launched from somewhere up to 8 kilometers
away. The rockets were believed to be projected by some
improvised launchers, which made the chance for success minimal, said the
commander. Enditem |
