Sri Lanka's Chief Justice to Be Impeached

   COLOMBO, April 1 (Xinhuanet) -- A motion to impeach Sri Lanka's
Chief Justice Sarath Nanda Silva will be presented to Parliament
soon, the state-owned Daily News reported Monday.
   Quoting political sources the paper said a special committee
comprising eminent lawyers had already prepared the motion
refining an earlier motion and condensing the charges.
   The earlier motion was presented last year and signed by 77
members of the then main opposition United National Party and the
leftist JVP or the People's Liberation Front, but it lapsed with
the dissolution of Parliament in October upon order of President
Chandrika Kumaratunga to avoid a defeat of her ruling People's
Alliance government in a no-confidence motion against it.  Enditem
