Vietnam, Russia to Strengthen Economic-Commercial Ties

Xinhuanet 2002-03-28 23:19:42

””””HANOI, March 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Visiting Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov reiterated that the Russian government will support and encourage Russian businessmen to build joint venture enterprises in Vietnam.

””””Kasyanov made the remarks while addressing a gathering among Vietnamese and Russian business people organized here on Thursday morning by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

””””At the gathering, Kasyanov said that Vietnam's socio-economic achievements over the past period and Russia's socio-economic restoration in the past three years will create a foundation for the two countries' businesses to strengthen cooperation.

””””He said that Vietnamese enterprises should speed up marketing and advertising with a view to seeking outlets for Vietnam's high-quality products in Russia.

””””VCCI Chairman Doan Duy Thanh said at the gathering that the commercial and investment ties between the two countries have beenconstantly developed over recent years, but that these bilateral relations have not yet been equal to their potential.

””””Thanh said he believed that the fine results of the Russian Prime Minister's visit and the signing of cooperation documents between the two countries will strongly accelerate their cooperation in general and the cooperation between the two countries' business people in particular.

””””At the meeting, Vietnamese and Russian business people discussed difficulties and outstanding issues in the economic and commercial ties between the two countries and worked out measures to boost their cooperation in the future.

””””Kasyanov and his entourage left here Thursday afternoon, concluding their three-day official visit to Vietnam. Enditem
