Jiang Zemin Names China's First Spacecraft "Shenzhou"

”” BEIJING, November 21,1999 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Jiang Zemin recently wrote the inscription "Shenzhou" for the country's first test spacecraft which successfully completed its flight Sunday.

”” Jiang is also general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

”” The spacecraft touched down in central Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in north China at 3:41 a.m. (Beijing time) Sunday.

”” The space vehicle was launched at 6:30 a.m. (Beijing time) Saturday at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gansu Province.””Enditem
