HANOI, March
15 (Xinhuanet) -- A group of 43 Vietnamese ethnic minority people, who had
illegally crossed the border into Cambodia from the country's Tay Nguyen
provinces, left their makeshift camps in Cambodia for home
Thursday. They were welcomed at Duc Co bordergate by Vietnam's
Gia Lai province's authorities upon their arrival at 18:00 hours the same
day, according to a report of Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on
Friday. Gia Lai province provided each of them an initial
allowance of 500,000 Vietnamese dong (VND) (30 U.S. dollars) to help them
stabilize their lives. All the Vietnamese returnees
expressed their joy to return to the homeland, said VNA, adding that many of
them burst into tears in the open arms of their family members while others
expressed remorse for having been deceived by malefactors.
They expressed their boundless gratitude to the party, government, local
administration and mass organizations for welcoming them back.
Seventy-six of the more than 1,000 such migrants returned to
their homes on February 19 and March 2 this year. More than
1,000 Vietnamese ethnic minority people in Vietnam's Tay Nguyen provinces
illegally crossed the border to Cambodia due to cheat and incitement by
malefactors last year. Most of them are now living temporarily
in makeshift camps in Cambodia. Enditem |
