HANOI, March 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Vietnam calls on Israel to stop its
excessively-using military strength against Palestine's positions
and all sides to restrain, end violations, build confidence and
restore peace negotiations, a Vietnamese spokeswoman said here on
Wednesday.
   In replying a question about the position of the Vietnamese
government on the current tense situation in the Middle East,
Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Phan Thuy Thanh said that
Vietnam is gravely concerning over the fact that the navy, ground,
and air forces of the Israeli army launched attacks on Palestine's
position in the West Bank of the Jordan River and Gaza Zone,
including civil targets, escalating the conflict between Israel
and Palestine, causing great losses of lives and properties,
threatening the peace and stability in the region, and breaking
the peace process in the Middle East.
   Vietnam, Thanh confirmed, supports all initiatives and
international efforts aimed at ending the current violence in the
Middle East, and reiterates that an equal and sustainable solution
for the Arab-Isreal conflict can only be reached on the basis of
Resolutions 242 and 338 of United Nations Security Council,
guaranteeing the national self-determination right of Palestinian
people and the interests of all parties concerned.  Enditem
