ADDIS ABABA, August 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Some Ethiopian who used to
work and live in Djibouti have been deported from the country to
Ethiopia, the local Monitor newspaper reported Wednesday. The deportees said that they were sent back to Ethiopia by the
Djibouti security forces from their places of work without being
given any pre-notice and without being told of reasons that
carried out their deportation. "I have no idea why the Djibouti government wanted to deport us
in a manner that they did, without giving us any justifiable
reason. I now have neither a place to go to nor anything to eat. I
left all my property in Djibouti when the security forces took me
from my work place," said a deportee quoting by the newspaper. More than 5,000 Ethiopians including the recent Addis Ababa
asylum-seeking students are reportedly living in Djibouti. The mainly deported Ethiopians worked in Djibouti as housemaids,
guards, gardeners and daily labors. Enditem
