HONG KONG, Oct. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Hong Kong's Asian Games champion windsurfer
Lee Lai-Shan is well recovering from the acute stomach pain that forced her to
return home from Busan, South Korea ahead of schedule.
Lee, 32, Hong Kong's first and only Olympic gold medalist, was in good
spirits at a press conference at the hospital here where she has been treated
for cholongitis, or an inflamed bile duct.
She said the pain had almost gone now and she was due to check out of
hospital later Saturday. Lee said she would continue taking antibiotics and
other medication for a week.
Lee dropped out of the last two races of the Asian Games windsurfing
competition earlier this week but had built up an unbeatable lead.
Lee said she started feeling the pain on September 28 but chose to carry on.
"I believe when I set a goal, it's not worth it to give it up when I
encounter just a little hardship and difficulty," she said.
Lee won the Olympic gold medal in the 1996 Games. Enditem
